While the main thrust of our church life will be experienced within the context of our Missional Community Groups, we also have a number of specialist, or targeted ministries that operate each week, usually during school terms. These ministries may take the form of a weekly group activity or event, a one-off teaching class or seminar, or in the case of Biblical Counselling, an individual meeting with one of our Pastors or their wives.
Springfield has a large and growing population of young families. Accordingly, many of our specialist ministries are focussed on supporting and encouraging families to know and follow Jesus.
Family Ministries
We love children and we love to strengthen families. Our desire is to provide excellent, gospel-centered service to your family. Here are some of our goals:
1. We want you to feel at ease about your children while you experience the weekly worship services. All of our Disciples Church volunteers and leaders are screened via background checks, and have been trained in ChildSafe risk management. They have a passion to help your kids learn more about who Jesus is and how to live according to God’s word.
2. We want your kids to enjoy coming to church. Whether an infant or a 6th grader, we seek to provide environments that enhance church experience for every age group. Each class will be led through times of music, Bible stories, illustrations with practical applications - all based on the Gospel.
3. We want to equip you as a parent to be the spiritual leader for your kids. The most practical and regular way we do this includes the “Devotional” sheets provided each week at the Promise Kingdom Registration Table. These sheets outline conversations you can have to lead your kids into a deeper understanding of the Gospel. From time to time, we may also offer parenting classes.
If you have any concerns, questions, or comments regarding Disciples Church’s children’s and youth ministries, we would love to be of service to you. Please know that the door is always open, regardless of the issue, when it comes to helping you become a better parent. If we can be of service to you, please email Fiona Gardiner (Mothers of Todders), Hayden Bridgeman (Children) or Amy Machin (Youth) or contact any of our Pastors.
