What to Expect

Turning up to a church service for the first time can be a little bit daunting. Even if you're a seasoned church attender, a new church with new people can quickly have you outside your comfort zone. So here are a few bits of information that we hope might help make it a bit easier.

A Warm Welcome

Or at least we hope you receive a warm welcome from the time you arrive at the front door! Once inside the auditorium please feel free to have a look around and if someone doesn’t say “Hi” to you, don’t be afraid to start a conversation with someone yourself.

COVID Check In

At the moment, under our COVID-Safe Plan, we are required to Check-In all service attenders and maintain these records for 56 days in the event of the need for contact tracing purposes. We also require everyone to abide by current physical distancing requirements outlined by Queensland Health. Our Auditorium has a capacity of 200 people.

Connect Desk

Check out the brochures at our Connect Desk that will give you more detailed information about the church, and speak to one of our pastors if you’d like to receive our weekly newsletter or have someone follow you up through the week.

Before The Service

We try to have the dais at the front of the worship auditorium free of people at least half an hour before the commencement of each Service. If you arrive early, feel free to take a seat in the auditorium at your leisure. There should be some background music playing and there might be some people there to talk with, or you might like to have a prayer time before the Service starts.

At DC, we have a growing number of families with young children. At both our Sunday morning services we have Creche (Ages 1-3) and DC Kids (Kindy-Grade 6), which run during the sermon time. For children up to grade three there is a nut-free snack time (parents to supply). We have electronic sign-in and sign-out to keep track of everyone - if you are attending for the first time, it is helpful to enrol your child at the Connect Desk before the service starts.

We generally start our services by singing a few worship songs together. We usually stand together to sing, and the words of the songs will be projected on screens at the front. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself singing these songs through the next week!

During The Service

During the service there will be a time of prayer, bible readings, testimonials & reports, and on the first Sunday of every month we will celebrate the Lord’s Supper (Communion) together. A key part of the service is the sermon, where we hear from God’s Word. The sermon will last for around 40-45 minutes. The whole service generally runs for less than 90 minutes.

After The Service

Due to the current COVID-19 restriction we are not able to offer tea and coffee after our services, but there are refereshment options (including a great coffee shop) within the Spring Lake Village centre.
