Topic: New Testament Scripture: Matthew 11:20–11:30
Genuine rest is so elusive. Even as Jesus' followers we can miss enjoying the rest He offers from day to day.
Our problem is we're prone to believing lies and seeking rest in the wrong places. Our first thought is to look to our own resources, our own plans and to false saviours for what only He can give us. And what we get instead is some kind of bondage - false saviours are always cruel masters.
Jesus doesn't offer us an easy life, or freedom from struggle. But when we surrender mastery of our lives to Him, we find rest beyond what we could have imagined - rest for our souls!
