It might seem a little odd to describe the death of Jesus as a 'victory,' but that's exactly how the Bible describes it. 

The crucifixion was Jesus winning a victory over sin. For the believer, sin no longer has an eternal power over us. The penalty we deserve to pay for our sin was paid by our Saviour on the cross, so we are free!
