Secular wisdom doesn't recognise that we have a soul. The Bible often calls it our heart - not our physical heart pumping blood through our body - but our spirit that motivates everything we do. Your heart is either soft or hard to the things of God. Jesus had some hard things to say to those who pretended to be religious, but whose hearts were hard.
